Excerpt - Recognising your stress signature

When you mention the word arousal, it triggers all sorts of different thoughts for different people (you’re working from home, so nobody can see your guilty blush!) Right now though, I’m talking about it in the context of psychology, where arousal is the state of being physiologically alert, awake, and attentive.  My guess is that we’re all feeling quite a heightened sense of ‘alert’ right now, maybe even anxious, and that can manifest itself in many different ways… both physically and mentally.

Learning to recognise what’s happening in our minds and bodies when we’re feeling stressed is really helpful. It’s called our ‘stress signature’ and it is of course unique to everyone. Learning to identify this is a brilliant skill that you can carry with you until the end of your days. Let’s start today…
